Founded by Professor Roy Black in 2014, with $25,000, Emory's Real Estate Private Equity fund is a student-led, value-oriented fund focused on publicly traded REITS. The fund currently sits at close to $350,000 in AUM.
The fund has two goals: provide students an educational experience of managing real money and ultimately act as an endowment fund for the real estate program.
Our equity and debt teams present careful analysis of potential investments for the fund. On the equity side, we look for opportunities to find undervalued REITs, modeling our findings extensively before presenting to club leadership and our faculty advisor. For debt, we look for consistent returns to safely and consistently maintain the fund's capital, even in down cycles.
The fund is led by a President who oversees two Chief Investment Officers, one for each platform. Each CIO manages VPs of specific asset types, who in turn mentor and guide analysts in modeling and sourcing potential investments. The team fosters a robust culture of learning and growth in hopes that new analysts will quickly move up the executive ladder.
If you are currently an Emory BBA interested in joining the team, send over your resume and a brief cover letter explaining your background in Real Estate. If you are not an Emory student, or want to learn more about the fund's work, please reach out!
